Mt. Cody about to erupt?

Rookie DT Terrence Cody showcased some vast potential during the preseason and then again in Atlanta against the Falcons. This past week in Baltimore against the Saints, Cody was on the field for just five plays. Insiders say that the former Alabama run stuffer was dominant during those five snaps. If you buy into that the obvious follow up question is, “Why didn’t he see the field more?”

Well for one the Saints are first and foremost a passing team and that alone will knock off potential plays for Cody as Greg Mattison opted for more nickel and dime sub packages. Secondly, the Ravens are dealing with the fading star of a very prideful Kelly Gregg, a well-liked, well respected member of the Ravens family. The organization is handling the delicate situation with kid gloves.

That said there’s at least a 50-50 chance that 2010 is Gregg’s swansong season and an even greater chance that he will never be a starter again beyond the ’10 campaign if he does return.

.. I'd like to see what CODY can do.One thing for sure..he is taller and appears to carry more BODY MASS into the game. Buddy Lee has a been a great Raven for a long time. Lets hope he retires gracefully and does not embarrass himself like Bret Farve has done!
..Merry Christmas to all Ravens fans!

Already answered this elsewhere, TL, but it bears repeating that this is not a personalty contest. Play the personnel that gives you the best chance to win regardless of sentiment and, I might add, that should pertain to assistant coaches as well, even if they are friends of the head coach's father! No place for nepotism in the multi-billion dollar NFL!

JERRY B...once again. I agree with you completely. I was glad to see that the RAVENS had the guts to cut Mattison's son, and protect Devon Drew the TIGHT END.
.. However, this move suggests to me that the Ravens do not have confidence that TODD HEAP will be healthy? They have 3 tight ends now. Ed Dickson is the starter..then DENNIS PITTA and now DREW. I am assuming that Drew is a decent Special Teams player (requirement to stay out of dog house). I was glad to see # 59 Ellersbe on the field for a change.
.. In the 2011 Draft I would go # 1 and # 2 for a RIGHT OFFENSIVE TACKLE and the BEST Line backer in the draft.
..I rest my case...
